#BREAKING: The Defence Headquarters has retracted its earlier statement confirming the rescue of the abducted Chibok girls.

The spokesperson for the defence headquarters, Chris Olukolade, had told PREMIUM TIMES that a yet unclear number of the girls had been freed and driven in two Toyota Hiace buses to the Maimalari Barracks, the headquarters of the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri.

But less than 30 minutes after he spoke to us, Mr. Olukolade called back to say he was withdrawing his earlier statement, PremiumTimes Now Report.

He said he had been having difficulty establishing contact with his colleagues in Maiduguri and that he was no longer sure that the girls driven into the barracks were newly rescued.

What a country like Nigeria....a stupendous country with stupendous spokesperson....always unsure of dia breaking news.....mtcheeeeeew!!.....JM

Lolzz.. MD is waiting for the day that GEJ will finally solve the abduction - What an irony!. Do I need to start arguing with this people - No time for the 'Notice me' joor!3-|>:/.  @Ayo, make we just dey enjoy the movie dey go jare=)). Its glaring some of the people on this forum don't follow events. They only depend on  reports and paraga joint gists*smh*. Anyway, now that the News has been reversed, what would people like Olu(baba elepe) & Tolu say again?8-|. Any curse by anybody, directly or indirectly referring to me, will be for him/her family members. Shikena# . #Goodluck Nigeria..... AK

Mtcheeeeeew, what kind of country is this our Nigeria? One minute, the FG & Military were jubilating over d 236 Chibok girls and minutes after another story! Mtcheeeeew
F.A

At least this brief 30mins of "good news" has shown us that there are many out there waiting for that opportunity to declare their support for GEJ (not that there's nothing wrong with that). And it also gives GEJ himself an insight into how the Country will react, rally in his favour and him becoming a "hero" if these girls are indeed rescued (not to talk of a nice prelude to a Presidential campaign flag-off for 2015). So really, GEJ and the Nigerian Military should step up on efforts to rescue the girls for real. The rewards will be massive media-wise and could well land GEJ another 4yrs. - Ayo

This country is a big joke, I think it's high time people realise this so we start relating like that...Oba

Wat a disgrace dat  BBC confirmed it wasn't chibok girls. Imagine whilst pple were already jubilating. No proper communication. Nija I hail ooooox_x ..... Lady F

I swear,The army spokesman is a serious comic relief being....I think the reversing of the Chibok school girls' release is the height of incompetence of this government. This is very shameful and embarrassing in the face of international community. In any sane society, the Army Spokesman, Chris Olukolade should resign his appointment with immediate effect or get fired. But Nigerian factor...he will even get a national award for this.....P.P

Can some one tell us the true story about the chibok girl..........Honesty

No story! Chibok Girls still very missingB

@oloyede I support you jare because I think of it,that how would such a thing happen and for the past four month now, they can not find them........ogaooooo...and I love this country more than all this thing that is happening now...may God save us
honestly

Dear forum, I believe Gen Olukolade is not a dumb head, he probably made the statement out of excitement before he was called back that he should have allowed the president to take the shine! This is the logic 1. Olukolade is a general and no idiot finds himself in that post by omission 2. Why should a bus going to kaduna (as claimed) land in the army barracks heavily guarded if the girls were going to school. 3. Between the time olukolade was informed and made the statement he could have found out the true position if the girls were not the ones being looked for? 4. Could it be a 2015 campaign stunt gone bad? 5 was it that they hired a different set of girls annd they fear people would find out. 6. Was there a balance to be paid which someone is trying to be smart? 7. Two buses couldn't have contained about 300 teenagers, could it be that BH wouldn't want to release the rest due to ransome? B.O

My view .. I just siddon dey look and I still say #bringbackourgirls
