I am very terrible with names . I
mean, I suck.
I remember faces surprisingly, so it’s
possible to catch me staring at you in a
weird way, that’s simply because I recognize your face but ‘m trying to ascertain
if we met in my previous life, you are
from my dreams or you are just a person from my future life trying to show face
now, so A “Dejavu” is registered .
(Yea I know that’s a bit confusing
you are almost dizzy. I know! I know! I’m
sorry )
Back to names, I suck so much that I
struggle for weeks to remember the name of a new staff addition or acquaintance.
Sometimes I want to dial a number
and I’m struggling with my memory to just give me the name to search out on my
contact list.
I know I’m definitely not the only
one that’s been in this situation.
I know you’ve been too , now don’t make me feel like an alien or
abnormal, I know you are like me or you forget other things that’s not simply names .
That’s why I’m writing this to help
you out lol.

1. Associate Their
Names To Their Features Or Details
We all know how important it is to
remember a person’s name. When you call someone by name it makes them feel
remembered and significant.
But what if you took it a step
further and also remembered major things they talked to you about? What if you
could ask about the Hawaiian vacation they told you they were taking 3 months
ago? That’d be pretty cool huh?
In an ideal world, we’d remember
everything about everybody we meet but that’s just not possible. We meet so
many people and don’t have the mental capacity to actively store all of that
information.
To help, I’d like to share with you
my technique for remembering names as well as the important things they talk
about and do.
After you meet a new person, give
this a try…

Quickly jot down any general
information about the person. Write their name and any defining features of the
person you can use to identify them later. For example, you can write that they
have long blonde hair, blue eyes, and look like Jennifer Aniston. I’ve found
that this helps to visually trigger an image of the person later when you are
reviewing.
2. By Hobby or Activities
Next, write down any information the
person told you that you want to remember for later. This can be a sports team
they like, music they listen to, or pets they own. This gives you something to
talk about the next time you see the person.
The next time you anticipate seeing
this person again, quickly review the information you wrote down to remember
their name and have something to talk about.

Link Them To Place
Another tip is to organize your
notes on people based on where you know them from. For example, you can have a
stack of notes called “People from weekly luncheon”. Every time before the
luncheon, you quickly review all of your notes on people who will be there.
You’ll look like the hero who remembers everybody’s name. Plus you’ll never run
out of stimulating conversation topics to bring up that the other person cares
about.
4. Link Them To
Another Person
A quick jump to your memory is by
linking said person to the link between you guys.
Say one of your friends introduced you
both, you can save your new friend’s number
with “John Through Abel” ( Where Abel is
your main pal that you can’t possibly forget ).
5. Remember Them By Their Profession Or Company
You can easily say John (SHELL) or
Chevron . If the company they work in isn’t
as popular as those mentioned you might want to use their actual profession or
field. Say Mark (BLOGGER) OR Sade (Make up artist )
What this does is if you don’t remember
the name you can easily check your phone book for makeup and it pops up .
Errrrmm but it’d
be a mess if you meet several people in same field but I assure you it’s
easily narrowed down this way and you
can easily spot the one you seek once you
see the name amongst the shortlist .
This is just my technique to
remember people and names and it works pretty well for me. I’m sure you have a
