Fled Boko Haram Terrorists Drown In Lake Chad

A large number of terrorists have drowned in the Lake Chad as they fled the heavy bombardment by Nigerian Air force heralding the advance of Nigerian troops on mission to flush them out of Baga, the Nigerian defence headquarters has said.

“Not even the strategy of mining over 1500 spots with land mines on the routes leading to the town could save the terrorists from the aggressive move of advancing troops,” the Director of Defence Information, Chris Olukolade, a Major General, said in a statement.

He added, “All the land mines were skillfully cleared one after the other. Eventually, the resistance of the terrorists collapsed and the land forces finally stormed the town in the early hours of Friday.

“Many of the terrorists died while an unknown but substantial number of them fled with various degrees of injury, in the series of encounter along the routes of advance as troops headed for Baga.

“Apart from the 5 anti air craft guns and the rifles captured from the terrorists, over 34 motorcycles and 5 vehicles including trucks being used for operations by the terrorists were destroyed in the course of the fighting as troops headed for Baga. The troops finally began clearing the terrorists from Baga on arrival in the town early Saturday morning.

“A comprehensive cordon and search phase of military operation has now commenced to enable troops mop up arms and ammunition and also apprehend any terrorist who might be hiding in the vicinity. The exercise will also determine details of the casualties inflicted or incurred in the course of the operations to clear Baga and environ of terrorists.

“Similar exercise is being carried out in over 12 locations namely Gajigana, Ngaze, Ngenzai, Marte Junction, Mile 90, Yoyo, Kekeno, Kukawa, Cross Kauwa, Kangarwa, Amirari and other localities where troops have flushed out the terrorists in the operations preceding the entry to Baga. The troops are now dominating and conducting aggressive patrols in the locations. The morale of troops remain high.”

THEME : THE LETHAL WEAPON OF WAR

Memorise :

And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed. Acts 16:25-26

Read : 2 Chronicles 20:21-33

21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever.

22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.

23 For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR : EXODUS 10-12 and REVELATION 3:7-22

Message

In today's reading, the Bible clearly presents worship as a lethal weapon of war. Here, three powerful nations rose up against Israel in battle. Knowing that they could not match their enemies in physical warfare, King Jehoshaphat appointed singers unto the Lord, and they went before the army to praise the beauty of God's holiness ( 2 Chronicles 20:21). When they began to sing and praise God, suddenly, worship turn into a lethal weapon of war, and the Lord decided to waylay the armies of their enemies. As you praise and worship the Lord today, your worship will work against your detractors as a lethal weapon of war in the Name of Jesus.

Another example of worship as a lethal weapon of war took place in Joshua 6. After the Israelites got to Jericho, they were confronted by its mighty wall that seemed impossible to breakthrough. Jericho was shut in; the only available option therefore was to mount a siege that could last for months. However, the people shouted a great shout after the priests blew the trumpet, and the wall of Jericho fell down flat ( Joshua 6:20 ). Again, in the Name that is above all other names, I command everything that represents the wall of Jericho in your life to fall down flat before you.

I have always maintained that If you are faced with a challenge of any kind and you have fasted, you have prayed , and done all that you can do without getting any appreciable result, it's time to try praise and worship.

Worship has proved to be a very potent weapon of warfare in many cases where everything else appeared to be ineffective.

Whenever a child of God begins to praise His holy Name and hail Him as the Alpha and Omega, King and kings, Lord of lords, I Am that I Am, Mighty Man in battle, Lord of hosts, Omnipotent God, Omniscient God, Jehovah Nissi, Jehovah Shalom, the present Help in the time of trouble, Ancient of Days, the Almighty etc, He responded immediately, because He cannot deny Himself. Such was the experience of Paul and Silas in Acts 16:25-26.

The Bible states that they prayed first and nothing seemed to happen, but when they started singing, suddenly, there was a great earthquake.

Today, your worship will become a lethal weapon against your problems and challenges in the Name of Jesus.

Key Point :

If you dare to take your worship to a higher level, you will surely reap higher rewards.

I'VE SLEPT WITH OVER 3000 MEN!!! READTHE STORY OF A 63 YEAR OLD WOMAN

Marie Calvert had only ever had sex with one man, her husband Barry as at age 28. Then she took up swinging and everything changed. The body count went from 1 to 3,000. In fact, she claims that one night, she slept with 14 men. Marie, now 63, tells her epic story below...

It was the night I slept with 14 men that I first started to try to work out how many partners I’ve been with. The truth is, I’m not sure. My conservative estimate is about 100 guys a year for more than three decades. I’m 63 now and I’ve slowed down a little – but only a little. Why do I do it? Having sex isn’t something I do for a living, but it is my passion. It’s the most enjoyable, exhilarating, satisfying way to spend your time. Some women like yoga, some like badminton. I like carnality.

I am actually married. Barry and I have been together since I was 15 – we wed when I was 19, have two grandchildren, and he’s my world. But neither of us puts sex on a pedestal. We see it for what it is: separate from love. It’s not natural to stick with one sexual partner for 60 years.
Life is about experimenting and experiencing, and that’s what we do. Barry goes with other women. I don’t get jealous because I know he loves me. Until the age of 28, I’d only been with him and we had a terrific sex life, but one day he brought home a swingers’ magazine he’d picked up from a workmate. He sort of joked we should try it; I told him not to be daft, and he never mentioned it again.

But I kept looking at the mag and imagining how fun it might be. Eventually I told him we should give it a go. He looked like a kid at Christmas. The first couple we met – through the listings in that magazine – were university lecturers in their 40s, and I still remember driving to their home that Friday. Barry stopped the car and said, “Are we sure about this?” We were so nervous, but we were also insanely excited. I said we’d try it once and see how it went. And it went… joyously.
As soon as we met them I was flirting with the guy. John was sophisticated and handsome, and over dinner there was this intense chemistry. Afterwards, there were a few minutes when just he and I were in the living room, and I thought it was now or never so I kissed him, and that was that. By the time Barry came in with John’s wife, we were otherwise engaged. I remember looking at Barry’s face and seeing a big smile come over it; I knew everything would be fine, and that life had changed for ever.

We became committed swingers, spending weekends meeting up with couples or going to parties to swap partners. Suddenly everything was exciting. You’d be at work, and you’d think about what you were up to that evening and it sent a shiver down your spine. Some couples – like John and his wife – would become close friends, even when the sex stopped. Others you’d see only once. The night I slept with 14 men was at a swingers’ party in Manchester. I remember driving there feeling almost uncontrollably lustful. The next day I felt achy, in that lovely way, like when you’ve been to the gym.
In 1997, we decided to open a swingers’ club in Sheffield. We were fed up with work and wanted to do something we were passionate about. It’s still thriving today. We never have sex during opening hours – it’s our business and we’re professional about it. But, of course, when the place shuts, we’ve got an entire club full of facilities – and an ever-growing circle of open-minded couples – to play with. It’s not all been perfect, of course. Not every lover is attentive. I remember in my 40s going with an 18-year-old, just to see what it would be like. Quick was the answer.

We’re safety-conscious and I’ve never felt in any danger. Barry is normally in the same room or not far away. I’ve recently had a knee operation, which means I’m walking with a stick, so I’m taking it easy. I had only three lovers last year. I still have the same sex drive but I’m more relaxed now. I’m not someone who’s ever going to dress like a woman half her age just to get attention. But if guys still find me attractive – well, why not? People ask if we have any regrets and we do – we wish we’d found that mag five or six years earlier.

OBASANJO SHOULD GUARD HIS UTTERANCE FOR THE SAKE OF THIS NATION" - PRESIDENT JONATHAN

President Jonathan has said Obasanjo is still is father despite his criticisms towards him. Speaking to Tribune editors he said

First and foremost, Obasanjo is a father to me. By divine providence and the grace of God, I am the President of Nigeria today. It is not by my strength. But God uses human beings to actualise His own blessings on human beings. And He used so many Nigerians, including former President Obasanjo, to play one role or the other for me.

“I became the deputy governor of a state, became the governor, the vice president and president. I have no issues with him, and I really don’t want to join issues with President Obasanjo. I think it is not necessary.”
“But I will use this opportunity, because you asked, to just plead with my father that he is a leader, a former president of the country. He has led the country more than anybody — eight years of democratic governance and almost four years of military governance. No other person has that kind of record.

“So, actions and inactions, or utterances, should be guarded so that we don’t expose our country to the international community as if it is a country in danger, a country that is about to collapse. You are frightening investors, especially those who invest hot cash, to pull out their money from the country and that would affect the stock market and it would affect the economy.
“For one reason or the other, Obasanjo may disagree with me as his first political son. You can even disagree with your own biological children, as a human being, not to talk of disagreeing with your political children. So, he can agree or disagree with me, but the utterances have to be managed in a way that it does not affect the economy and security of this country.”

MAN CATCHES GIRLFRIEND TRYING TO BITE OFF HIS PRIVATE PART AS HE SLEPT

A man woke up to discover his girlfriend trying to bite off his penis after a lovers' quarrel.
The victim’s girlfriend, Amber Ellis, 31, was arrested on charges of maiming and assault with a dangerous weapon in connection to the near-dismemberment.
Her unfortunate boyfriend, who has not been named, was rushed to a hospital were doctors were able to stitch up his mauled genitals.
According to a police report cited by the local station KJRH, the man said he and Ms Ellis were out drinking Wednesday night, and on the way home they got into an argument 'about how needy she had become.'

The couple continued trading verbal jabs upon returning to their apartment  until finally the 31-year-old woman stormed off to the bedroom and shut the door behind her.
Her boyfriend, who was described in the report as an amputee, dozed off on the couch in the living room.
In the early hours of Thursday morning, the man was awakened by the sensation of teeth chomping on his privates.
The man was able to fight Ellis off, but the scorned girlfriend, who stands at 5 feet 8 inches and weighs 120lbs, allegedly slammed him in the head with a laptop computer.
The injured boyfriend was taken to St John's Medical Center, where he received four or five stitches to the base of his manhood.

Nigeria's Elections Will Not Hold - Boko Haram Leader Abubakar Shekau Said In A Newly Released Video

Boko Haram

On Tuesday the group released a video in which Boko Haram's leader, Abubakar Shekau vowed to disrupt Nigeria's elections at any cost.

The 15-minute video was released via the group's newly created Twitter account, prompting some analysts to question whether they had been influenced by Islamic State.

Previous Boko Haram videos were of a lower quality and distributed to journalists on DVD.

Also on Tuesday, a suicide bomber killed four and injured five at a restaurant near a military checkpoint in Potiskum, north-eastern Nigeria.

Meanwhile an attack at an opposition rally in the south of the country killed one police officer and injured four others, while a reporter covering the event was stabbed, according to news agency AFP.

The attack targeted a rally by the All Progressives Congress (APC) - Nigeria's main opposition - in Okrika, a small port town south of Port Harcourt in the heart of Nigeria's oil-producing region.

A rally organised by the All Progressives Congress in Okirika, home to Nigeria’s First Lady, Patience Jonathan, was disrupted twice on Wednesday.

The rally was first disrupted by triple bomb blasts which occurred a few minutes after the leadership and party faithful assembled at the Okirika National Secondary School field in the early hours of the day.

A source, who pleaded not to be named for security reasons, said that the rally had just got underway, when three bombs went off in quick succession in three different locations close to the venue of the programme. APC members were waiting for the rally to begin, witnesses said, when there was several explosions and gunfire.

It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the attack. Boko Haram is not known to operate in the region.

THEME : PRACTICAL WORSHIP: DANCING

Memorise:

Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. Psalm 149:3

Read: Psalm 103:1-5,

1 BLESS the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR : EZEKIEL 7-9 and REVELATION 2:18-3:6

Message

We can worship God in various ways and manners. It is possible to worship God in song, dance and even in silence. However, throughout the Bible, practical worship is the preferred mode of worship whenever God does something great for His people. On the day God miraculously delivered Israel from Pharaoh and the Egyptian army, the people practically worshipped God with songs and dancing (Exodus 15:1&20).

After each victory or manifestation of the signs and wonders of God in the wilderness, the Israelites always responded with shouts of joy accompanied with singing and dancing. Moses, Hannah, David, the women of Israel and even the prophets at different times in history composed various songs to glorify the Name of the Lord.

It is clear from all of these cases that practical worship, also known as the sacrifice of praise, always begins with the fruit of the lips. Hebrew 13:15 says:
“By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.”

A good example of practical worship is found in Exodus 15. After the deliverance of Israel at the Red Sea, the Bible says that Moses and Miriam composed songs (the fruit of their lips) which led to the use of timbrels and dancing.

In another example, Chenaniah and choir master and the singers of Israel were singing high praises to the Lord with the national orchestra. This resulted in King David and all of Israel shouting and leaping to the praise of the Most High God (1st Chronicles 15:27-29).

These who have been with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) over the years know that one of the secrets of our success is practical worship. I am so addicted to practical worship that from my early days in the ministry, I was nicknamed the dancing pastor.

The RCCG is known to be a singing and dancing Church. Many have also identified us as a shouting Church. It is therefore because of our disposition to practical worship that God has been so wonderful to us.

The Lord is good. More than ever before, He is worthy of our praise this year. For His love and mercy, for His countless miracles, for His signs and wonders, we need to appreciate Him.

Go ahead and give Him practical worship in songs and dance throughout today. As you worship Him today, may He multiply His blessing in your life Jesus’ Name.

Key Point :

You must become an addicted worshipper to receive the best from God.

Help!! A sex toy has taken the place of my hubby as he cannot satisfy me sexually.

Got this from a friend please help advice not insult , all comments will be moderated.
Read below
I dont enjoy sex with my hubby because of many reasons which i cannot state here. Its really frustrating. I have tried to subtly give him clues so i wont hurt his feelings but he never learns and would release even before I finish removing my pant...

My elder sister bought a rabbit vibrator from the UK for me and its out of this world. I am a house wife and I now see myself looking forward to my husbands leaving in the morning so I can indulge, my problem now is that I cant seem to get enough. I cum like 2/3 tyms every day before he comes home from work. My orgasm always knocks me out and I tend to deeply sleep off immediately.

My kids are home on mid term break and I had to chase them out of my room yesterday so I can indulge. I slept from 11am to almost 3pm and my kids were hungry. I was so ashamed of myself when I woke up and the thing was still in my veejay.

I feel as if my new rabbit is beginning to change me into something else. I rarely have strength to do any thing these days and my hubby is beginning to complain though I pretend to be sick to get him off my back.

I hid it inside one old long shoe but I am never comfortable. Whenever hubby goes to the wardrobe my heart jumps into my mouth.

I really am very confused about this thing. It has taken me to heaven yet has stolen my sanity and peace of mind. I have thought about throwing it away but I really don't know if I can cope without it.
Please what do i do?

THEME : DESPISING THE DAYS OF SMALL BEGINING?

Memorise :

For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth. ZECHARIAH 4:10

Read : 1 Kings 18:42-44

42 So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,

43 And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.

44 And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR : JEREMIAH 51:52-52:34 and ACTS 27:13-32

Message

Today's reading is a popular Bible story that serves as a perfect example to illustrate God's view on small beginnings. The Almighty God seems to favour the principle of things starting in a small way, manageable way and then growing progressively.

This principle runs through almost everything in creation. In the book of Genesis, God only created a sample of each species of plants and animals which He commanded to reproduce, then multiply and go on to replenish the earth.

The outcome can be seen today. It is amazing to note that Redeemed Christian Church of God started more or less like a house fellowship with about 12 members.

Today, by God's grace, it has grown into a church with thousand of parishes spread all over the world. I therefore pray that though your beginning may be small, your latter end will be great in Jesus' Name.

It is important to know that the message of Jesus Christ in the story of mustard seed in Mark 4:30-32 was to show that though the size of a mustard seed may be small, it grows to become a massive plant.

He likened this to the kingdom He came to establish, to show that the Kingdom of God will grow and its final manifestation will be surprisingly great. Its final manifestation will bear no resemblance to its small beginning. True to those words, the church has grown beyond measure and the gospel of Jesus Christ has almost travelled around the whole world.

Whatever you are doing or planning to do, be it in ministry or in business, do not kill yourself to start big with everything in place. Do not be discouraged by negative comments or despisers. Focus on your assignment and look on to God for increase ( Job 8:7 ).

After Prophet Elijah had laboured vigorously in the place of prayer by casting himself down on the floor and putting his face between his knees, all he received was a little cloud like man's hand. But soon after, the sky was black with cloud and there was a great rain.

There is somebody reading this devotional ,maybe you are at the begining of your education or training; maybe you are just starting a new parish or ministry, a new career or business. Do not be afraid because your beginning is small, the Almighty God will cause your latter end to be Great in the Name of Jesus.

Prayer Point :

Father, please help my humble beginning; cause my latter end to be great in Jesus' Name.

Plot To Kill Pastor Itua Ighodalo By Staff Exposed

An attempt by two domestic staff to poison Pastor Itua Ighodalo of Trinity House (former RCCG's Pastor) a mega church in Victoria Island, Lagos, western Nigeria, has been foiled.

The two workers allegedly connived with a herbalist to hatch the plot to enable them kidnap the pastor’s wife, Ibidunni, and demand for a ransom of N80 million.

But the plot was foiled by the couple before they could actualise it. The police have arrested the two domestic staff and the herbalist and charged them to court for attempted murder.

Police identified the suspects as Abdulkareem Mohammed, 24, the alleged mastermind of the plot, employed by the couple as a dog handler, Makinde Ewuosi, 36, a native doctor who resides at 21, Joseph Street, Lagos Island and has his shrine at 9, Alofun Street, Lagos Island, and Paul Eke, 29, a security guard at Osborne Foreshore Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos where the couple resides.

Police investigation revealed that nemesis caught up with the suspects when the couple’s pet dog named Simba suddenly died from food poisoning at their residence at Ikoyi, Lagos.

Suspecting a foul play, the couple contacted their dog’s doctor to conduct an examination on it to know the cause of its death and the doctor’s report revealed that the dog died from food poisoning.

The couple reported the incident to the police and the dog handler was arrested and taken to the station for interogation.

During interogation, according to the police, the dog handler (Mohammed) from Borno State, allegedly confessed that he mixed poisonous substances given to him by a herbalist with food for the dog to eat and after the dog ate the food it died.

In his alleged confession to the police, Mohammed further said: “The security man in our estate, Eze, brought the information that if we poison my boss to death, kidnap his wife and demand for N80 million ransom we would be rich overnight. And to actualise our mission, I went to consult a native doctor, Ewuosi for help.

“And after explaining my mission to the native doctor, he gave me poisonous black powder, black soap and sponge with a directive that I must use the powder to poison my master’s dog to know the effectiveness of the poison and if it vomits and dies, I should use it to poison anybody.

“After the dog died, we were still planning how to use the poison on my boss and kidnap his wife for ransom before I was arrested. But I don’t know how the devil used me to plan such evil against my employers because they were taking good care of me. I pray to God to forgive me.”

Following his alleged confession, Mohammed led the police to arrest the herbalist and the security guard.

Ewuosi, the herbalist, allegedly confessed that he prepared some concoctions for the dog handler but not to kill anybody.

After investigation, the suspects were charged before a Tinubu Magistrates’ court on a two-count charge of attempted murder of Pastor Itua Ighodalo and his wife, Ibidunni.

The offences, the police prosecutor, Supol Chidi Okoye said, are punishable under sections 409 and 228(1)(2) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge in the open court, and Chief Magistrate Miss A.O. Awogboro admitted them on bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two surties each in like.

Awogboro directed the prosecutor to send the case file to the DPP’s office for advice and adjourned the case till 18 March, 2015 for mention.

The defendants were, however, taken to Ikoyi Prison, Lagos, pending when they will fulfil their bail conditions.

Revealed: How Jega, Buhari, Babangida, Jonathan and Fashola Contributed in Council of State Meeting on Reschedule Of Election-What They Actually Said :

HOW IMO GOV.OKOROCHA LIED TO NIGERIANS

Before the Council of State meeting, the position of the president, and that of the ruling party, PDP, was that the elections should be postponed. The argument was that by virtue of Section 132 (2) of the 1999 Constitution as amended, there was time to make adjustment. The Section provides that “an election to the said office (presidency) shall be held on a date not earlier than one hundred and fifty days and not later than thirty days before the expiration of the term of the last holder of that office.” That was the subtext to the Council of State meeting.
At the meeting, Jega presented his report, giving a breakdown of the number of registered voters in each state and the number that have collected their PVC's and reiterating that he was ready for the polls. The first person to speak after his presentation was the NSA, Dasuki, who harped on the renewed efforts by the Multinational Forces to dislodge the Boko Haram insurgents and the need to shift the elections forward. The service chiefs and the Director General of the Directorate of State Security (DSS) followed with similar presentations.

With the floor now open for discussion, Buhari was the first to fire a salvo against the idea to have the elections rescheduled. He said all the reasons adduced by the military do not warrant postponing the elections, especially when, according to him, soldiers have minimal role to play in the election process. With Buhari done, the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, presented what appeared a detailed position of the APC as to why the elections had to go ahead.

He looked at the possible implications of such a postponement from both the legal and political prisms, with the conclusion that it would not bode well for the country and the president. However, the Cross River State Governor, Mr Liyel Imoke countered Fashola’s arguments with what also appeared the PDP position as he went beyond the issue of Boko Haram to that of the preparedness of INEC.

Some of the issues he raised included the “lopsidedness” in the distribution of PVCs nationwide, the fact that the Card Readers to be used by INEC had yet to be tested and that the electoral officials to use them have not even been trained. At that point, according to sources, Jega sought to respond and was given the floor. He explained that most of the misgivings being expressed have been factored into INEC plans. He, however, added that it was unrealistic to expect a hundred percent turn-out of voters at elections as there is no such thing anywhere in the world.

To this, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Godswill Akpabio reportedly countered that Jega was wrong. Akpabio said there is a difference between people who may choose not to vote even if they have PVCs and those who cannot vote because they have been denied what ordinarily should be their rights. He said elections cannot be credible in situations where millions of people could not get what would enable them to exercise their franchise. In asking INEC to go ahead with the polls since the commission said it was ready, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, added that the advisory role of the Council of State does not extend to election matters. To that, the president, who had evidently been well-briefed, drew the attention of Tambuwal and that of the meeting to the Third Schedule (Part 1) of the 1999 Constitution, especially Section B (6) which states that the Council of State “shall have the power to (A) advise the President in exercise of his powers with respect to the…(4) the Independent National Electoral Commission (including appointment of members of the commission).”

In his own intervention, General Ibrahim Babangida argued that since INEC said it was ready for the polls, the real issue before the Council was on what to do about the four states where the security agencies said they needed more time to deal with the insurgency. Babangida now asked whether it was feasible to conduct elections only in 32 states.

The president interjected quickly that such election would end in fiasco. I have it on good authority that some people in the administration had suggested this idea to Jega in November last year and he said any such election that excise a section of the country would not pass the test of credibility or even for that matter, legitimacy. So the president knew that succumbing to such an idea would be politically suicidal for him and he rejected it outright.

However, from the way the meeting went, it was evident that positions had been taken along party lines. At the end, the responsibility as to what to decide was pushed to INEC but the real drama was announcing the “decision” arrived at because for all practical purposes, nothing was decided as to whether or not the elections should go ahead or be postponed.

With Governors Olusegun Mimiko, Rochas Okorocha and Bala Ngilari asked to brief the media by the president, the three rushed to the press room to grab the centre chair. Mimiko got there first and said no decision was taken and that INEC would consult and announce whether to postpone the elections or not which was the most accurate position as to what transpired. However, immediately Mimiko stood up and they all appeared to be leaving, Okorocha grabbed the chair that the Ondo State Governor had been sitting on and also started to brief the State House correspondents.

He said the Council had decided that the elections should go ahead. While that was not a true reflection of what happened, that was the slant reported in the media, which to be honest is a reflection of the mood of the public.

Press Release -

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been charged with grand plans to rig the 2015 polls in Lagos State.

Making this accusation in Lagos, the camp of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Candidate for Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, said it had unearthed plans to use the ad hoc staff, including teachers and civil staff, employed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to swing the polls in its favour.

In a Press Statement released today, the Director of Media and Publicity to Mr. Jimi Agbaje, FELIX OBOAGWINA,

cited as proof the sack of two ad hoc staffers by INEC, on the excuse that they were preventing non-indigenes from collecting their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs)

It accused the APC government of getting the Executive Secretaries to compel teachers and civil servants in the local government to attend meetings in which party candidates and leaders directly campaigned.

The statement said such actions traduced the civil servants’ right to freedom of thought, conscience and Right to freedom from discrimination as enshrined in Chapter IV of the Nigerian Constitution.

“What the Lagos State Government is getting the Executive Secretaries to do is contemptible and is a blatant abuse of office,” he said.

The statement demanded that INEC should go beyond the dismissal of the registration officials, and prosecute them for colluding in the APC’s plan to disenfranchise non-indigenes and other voters opposed to the continuation of the current order.

INEC had exposed the dismissal in a press statement circulated among the media on Tuesday.

“Although INEC has washed its hands off the illicit conduct of the sacked ad hoc officials, we insist that the Commission must go beyond merely relieving those concerned of their jobs and must, in fact, make them face the law. They must be used as scapegoats to expose and discourage the shenanigans of APC,” Oboagwina said.

According to the statement, it was clear that the sacked ad hoc INEC officials were on the pay of Lagos APC, which realised that it could lose the vote of non-indigenes and had embarked on systematically disenfranchising them through getting unscrupulous officials to deprive them of PVCs.

It also charged APC with colluding with INEC officials to take PVCs from house to house for people they think were favourably disposed to voting for the ruling party in Lagos.

“How did well-known APC members illegally secure the PVCs of people that they took to their owners at home? That is a case for INEC in Lagos to answer,” Oboagwina said. “It is part of the grand scheme by APC to rig the coming elections.”

BAR MANAGER SETS EMPLOYEE ABLAZE FOR ALLEGEDLY STEALING N1,500

The Ogun State Police Command is presently searching for a bar manager, Mr. Bidemi Shittu, who allegedly poured petrol on his 13-year-old attendant, Ezekiel Emmanuel, and set him ablaze. It was gathered that the manager took the action because the teenager reportedly stole N1,500 from him.

The incident happened in the Akoka area of Ibafo, Ogun State, on Monday, February 9.

The runaway suspect, Bidemi, who is married with children, was the manager of Golden Fingers Bar in the area, while Emmanuel was one of his attendants. Bidemi, who had accused Emmanuel of theft on Sunday, allegedly tied the teenager’s hands and feet in a room in his bar till Monday, waiting for him to admit the offence. It was gathered that on Monday, at about 11.30pm, Bidemi brought Emmanuel out to the front of the bar, poured petrol on the boy and set fire on him.

Some residents, who were out at the time, rescued and rushed Emmanuel to a private hospital in the area where he was initially treated before he was referred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos, the following day. The matter was reported to the Ibafo Police Division, and the policemen sealed off the bar.

However, it was gathered that the suspect, Bidemi, fled before he could be arrested.

Emmanuel’s uncle, Mr. Toyin Olayemi, said the boy was rejected by four different hospitals before he was eventually taken to LASUTH.

He said,
“Emmanuel’s father is not around. He went to his hometown in Ekiti because he fell ill. On Tuesday morning when they told me about Emmanuel. I rushed to the private hospital and I saw him on the bed, severely burnt from head to abdomen.
“He was working on part-time basis in the bar, although Bidemi did not pay him any salary. Emmanuel is also learning generator repair at a workshop. I was told that the manager accused him of stealing N1,500.
“Despite pleas from neighbours that they would repay him, he waited till everyone had gone to sleep and brought out the boy and burnt his body.
“The private hospital asked us to take him away the following day. We went to about four government hospitals which rejected him before we came to LASUTH.
“Since that Tuesday, they have not allowed us to see him. They said he was still under observation. The suspect too has run away. We learnt that a policeman in the Ibafo division tipped Bidemi off to evade arrest.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident. He added that the police were intensifying efforts to arrest the suspect.
He said, “The suspect poured petrol on the boy for stealing, He maltreated him, tied his hands and feet, and set him on fire. The boy is still in the hospital and the suspect is presently at large.“But the police will arrest the suspect.
“This act is not only criminal, but also barbaric. We are intensifying efforts to get him, we will.”

See The Boy Born With Angel-like Real Wings[Photos]

Wonders they say shall never end. A two-year-old Oliver look like a little angel as he was born with a rare skin condition that makes him look like he has feathered wings across his back, Fenstanton, Cambridgeshire, UK.

Oliver’s parents Matt and Stephanie Brown were stunned when they saw weird birthmarks on their baby’s back.

The boy was diagnosed with Congenital Melanocytic Naevi a type of melanocytic nevus  found in infants at birth ,that occurs in an estimated 1% of infants worldwide.

The unusual mark runs half way down his spine from his hairline and across his shoulder blades. Oliver should visit doctors at least every three months as such large marks increase the risk of the most aggressive forms of skin cancer. Despite the diagnosis Oliver is likely to live a full and healthy life.

Speaking about her conditins Mrs Brown says, “Oliver is one of the fortunate ones. Some children are riddled with moles and even get them on their eyelids. He actually has his on the top half of his back so it looks like wings. There can be lots of questions because it comes up to the nape of his neck and so is visible.

As he gets older we would hope he can accept himself for who he is. We have all got these bits of ourselves that we do not like and we have to accept them. He is wonderful the way he is and I’m sure in the dark times he will realise this. He is lucky in the sense he is such a cutie pop, everyone seems to think so, and I think people will overlook his condition."

In children with CMN the cancer is 10 times more aggressive and it’s untreatable once it reaches the brain.

The latest research has found the cause of 80 per cent of CMN cases and it’s caused by a mutated gene which develops as the baby is in the womb. This is why it’s so important to give babies MRI scans at birth and regularly to keep an eye on it in case it spreads.

In The Spirit Of Val :Man Marries Spiritual Wife In Ikoyi Registry

Confusion broke loose when a man in Ikoyi applied to the marriage registry to get married to a woman whom he allegedly happened to be a spiritual entity.

Apparently, the young man went to the marriage registry dressed up in suit and looking ready for the ceremony, but trouble started when the clerk asked him where the bride was.

His reply that his wife was standing beside him made the clerk look at him with such malicious disdain which was not unsuggestive of the fact that the young man was probably an escapee from one of the maximum security Psychiatric   Institutions in the Country.

When asked to explain, the young man replied that his wife was a spiritual being who was not visible to ordinary mortals, except those who who were exceptionally  righteous.

This reply irritated the clerk who saw it as an insult suggestive of his unrighteousness. When asked how he intended to consumate the proposed marriage with a spiritual woman whom he probably could not see, he expressed his doubts and said that where there is a will, there is a way, and he and his wife would work out an arrangement which would be beneficial to both the spiritual and physical worlds.

However, the young man’s application to get married to the spiritual wife was refused, as the practice was one which was unheard of and contrary to our system of law.

He was advised to proceed to a spiritual marriage registry to effect the marriage, especially as it would be within the jurisdiction of his wife’s government.

The aggrieved young man then proceeded to  the high court where he sought an injunction to compel the marriage registry to perform their lawful duty by approving the marriage.

He also sued them for breach of his fundamental right to freedom of association, as the registry were purportedly preventing him from having legal relations with his spiritual wife.

Laugh don tire me I beg.

EFCC Nabs Murtala Nyako’s Son, Abdul-Aziz

Two weeks after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, declared former Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako and his son, Abdul-Aziz, wanted, operatives of the anti- graft agency, Friday morning arrested the younger Nyako in Gombe, Gombe State.

A statement by the spokesperson of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, said he was immediately flown to Abuja, where he is currently being grilled by a crack team of detectives who had been working on the Adamawa investigation for several months.

Abdul-Aziz, who was declared wanted by the EFCC in the case of stealing, abuse of office and money laundering, is currently being interrogated over alleged illicit funds traced to companies in which he has interest.

Specifically, he is being asked to explain how over N15billion funds belonging to Adamawa State was allegedly laundered into the accounts of five companies said to owned by him- Blue Opal Nigeria Limited, Crust Energy Nigeria Limited, Blue Ribbon Multilinks Limited, Tower Assets Management Limited and Blue Ribbon Bureau De Change.

The funds was allegedly funnelled into the accounts of the companies from Adamawa state accounts domiciled in a new generation bank by the account officer who incidentally is the manager and an in-law to Ex-governor Nyako.

The EFCC said the manager claimed he transferred the funds through verbal instruction from the former governor for purposes that were not stated.

The commission said its investigations revealed that from 2007 to 2011, then Governor Nyako directed that all state-owned accounts domiciled in various banks be transferred to the new generation bank .

Abdul-Aziz’s company, Blue Opal, is said to own, among other investments in Nigeria, an estate in Abuja, while his father’s account officer owns several properties and investments scattered around Abuja, Yola and Kano.

HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL..

DATE : SATURDAY 14th FEBRUARY 2015

THEME : FAITH WITHOUT WORKS?

Memorise:

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6

Read: James 2:14-17

14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,

16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Jeremiah 49:23-50:46, Acts 26:1-23

Message

It is necessary to first establish the fact that the statement of James that “faith without works is dead”, applies to the fellow who knows the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Such a person knows the facts about God in the mind, is persuaded of the truth of the gospel and is in agreement with Christian principles. In fact, such a person takes part in Christian worship, is a church-goer and believes with all sincerity that he or she is a true child of God. The only issue is that such a person fails to commit to Jesus in a way and manner that leads to changes in lifestyle.

Such people refuse to allow old things in their lives to pass away – there is no crossing the line from darkness to light, there is no spiritual development or growth and such a person does not bear the fruits of righteousness. James 2:17 describes a person whose faith is dead because there are no works to show for it. In Matthew 7:21, Jesus was referring to such people when He said.

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”

it is very clear therefore that there is a form of action that must follow any profession of faith in Christ Jesus before such faith can be called a living faith. When profession of faith is not backed up with action, then such faith is dead.

Many are in the Church today living their lives the same way as people who do not know Christ.

The Bible in 2 Timothy 3:5a, described such people as;

“Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof:”

Such people profess faith in the Son of God; they claim that they believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ but they flatly deny the transforming power in the Word of God. They would do anything in the Name of God except allow any genuine transformation to take place in their lives.

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Romans 12:2

Children of God, faith without works is dead, and dead faith is of no use to anyone. Renew your faith today by backing it up with active works of righteousness. Put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge and transformed into the image of Christ (Colossians 3:10)

Action Point

Faith without works is dead, follow up your faith with works of righteousness.

Gov Fayose Eventually Responds :says Audio tape of plan to Rig Election is Fake and APC' Tantrum

!

On this one ,Tarah should be called a witch because I was so expecting same statement as response to the audio leak spreading like wildfire. Just as i dropped my last post about the audio, I started getting responses on bbm and texts speaking all forms of gibberish. As predicted and since no be me only waka come, please  read below the response and read my next post for the full transcript of the meeting . Dia Ris Still God o

,Governor of Ekiti State,Ayo Fayose, has denied being involved in the alleged tape that the APC released ,which featured some PDP big wigs discussing how to rig the Ekiti elections.
Here is a press statement from the office of the Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose...

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described the audio clip released by the All Progressives Congress (APC), through  its media organ, SaharaReporters as fake, saying; he never held any meeting with anyone to rig the June 21, 2014 election, suggesting that his voice & those of others could have been faked using technology like Natural Voices.

He said the audio clip was APC's new calculated attempt to discredit the election results, having failed woefully both at the poll and the tribunal.

Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Idowu Adelusi said in a statement issued on Friday that the APC would have used the audio clip as evidence at the tribunal if it was genuine.

He said; "Nigerians should be reminded of how the APC people lied in 2007 that they recorded how the governorship election was rigged even in the palace of the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, but the party could not produce a single photo evidence at the tribunal because their plans to do what is know as Morphing and Syncing was exposed.

"Nigerians should also be reminded of the existence of a technology called speech software, which is good at reproducing the sounds, inflections and intonations of a human voice.

"There are softwares that can re-create voices and even bring the voices of long-dead notable persons back to life. There are softwares that can turn printed text into synthesized speech, making it possible for anyone to use recordings of a person's voice to utter new things that the person never said. One of such softwares is called 'Natural Voices.'

"The APC that we all know is a party of crooks, who are capable of doing anything, no matter how criminal to achieve their aim.

"They tried all tricks to manipulate the election and failed. Even after wining the election, they tried to prevent Fayose from assuming office but failed.

"Now it is a fake audio clip, which is obviously targeted at the next week presidential election.

"Another question that should be  asked by discerning minds is; if indeed such a meeting took place, could any of those purported to be present at the meeting have recorded the conversation and leaked it to the APC? Or was the supposed secret meeting held in the public such that it was possible for the conversations to be recorded?

"This fake audio manipulated with the use of

Nigerians,  especially the people of Ekiti who overwhelmingly voted Fayose as their governor should therefore ignore this new fabricated lie coming from the APC."

Tarahtalks- wetin dem for talk sef.. Would a witch voluntarily confess ? No be when ailala show der speaker dey burst ???

Must read!Kenneth Okonkwo writes on 2015 Election

Democracy has been universally accepted to mean the government of the people by the people for the people. On independence, Nigeria was bequeathed with a flourishing democracy by the British colonial masters. The quest and struggle for independence was largely fought on peaceful democratic principles. We had a very acceptable constitution that recognized our diversity and ensured the practice of true federalism. The component units were healthily competitive and without oil, we were an emerging African economic power. Indeed, even the Colonial masters on independence described Nigeria as a potential super power nation and the land where the sun never sets.

However, when the British departed, we had only one major threat to our Democracy – Elections. How do we organize elections that will be free, fair and credible enough to be accepted in order to prevent violence and the eventual truncation of our democracy.

Historically, the first Republic was truncated as a result of violence resulting from a rigged election predominantly from the South West of Nigeria. The same scenario happened in 1983, when the administration of Alhaji Shehu Shagari was truncated by the Military led by General Muhammadu Buhari. The violence in the South West was the main reason for that Coup

Each time the Military came in, they promised a brighter future for us but eventually left us worse than we were before their incursion into politics. The worst aspect of military regimes is that they even leave the military institutions weakened, demoralised, divided and segmented in order to ensure that no military colleague will be strong enough to overthrow the current regime. The gradual and intentional neglect of our military over the years by military regimes is what we are suffering today in our war against Boko Haram and other insurgents. Can you imagine if Major Kaduna Nzeogwu, Col Dimka, Gen Muritala Mohammed, Gen Aguiyi Ironsi, Major Gideon Orka, Major General Mamman Vatsa and so on were still alive and had completed their career as professional Soldiers. These men were the best of the military around the world and so much excelled in their military profession that they won international accolades. Aguiyi Ironsi was awarded the rank of Major General by the International community because of his excellent performance during peace keeping missions across Africa. So was Dimka, who had the record of scaling under the lowest barbed wire during his training in NDA, Mamman Vasta was the best poet the military ever produced. There was one thing common with all of them. They were the best of the Military that were consumed by the Military itself. So the military regime is a regime that spares nobody including itself. My belief is that denying a person of his life or freedom without due process of law is the worst form of corruption. This makes military regimes and other undemocratic regimes the most corrupt regimes despite the purported spartanic and hypocritical lifestyle of their leaders when they venture into power. This also makes my belief in democracy with all its flaws unshakable.

We are now at the threshold of another election in 2015. I must congratulate Nigerians for allowing democracy to flourish for an uninterrupted period of 16 years. This success did not come about as a result of free and fair elections conducted by successive regimes but it came about from the sacrifices of statesmen who forsook their rights for the benefit of the whole nation. The Yorubas in 2003 lost five out of six states to the ruling PDP in circumstances which they described as not being free and fair. Yet unlike what they did in the 60’s and 80’s that earned them the wild wild west, they forsook violence and allowed the elections to stand for the general good. In 2007, the opposition parties in Yoruba land, after some legal gymnastics, captured 3 more states, leaving the PDP with only 2 states and by 2011, the whole states in Yoruba land were in the hands of the opposition. This is the beauty of democracy; it redresses injustices over a period of time. The change cannot be automatic. . Example when Obafemi Awolowo in the sixties perceived that the elections were not free and fair, it was said that he organized a violent overthrow of the government and ended up being jailed in the very popular “my hands were tied” judgment. The crisis precipitated by the violence led to the Coup of 1966 which led to the counter coup of July 1966 which led to the civil war which resulted to the loss of over a million lives. Everybody lost.

Again in 1983, Chief Obafemi Awolowo believed that the elections in the South West were rigged: By his body language even when there was no evidence he authored the violence, there was equally no evidence that he proactively did anything to stop the violence. The violence in the South West led to the end of the Civilian regime of Alhaji Shagari and everybody, except the beneficiaries of Shagari’s regime, hailed the incoming military regime of General Muhammadu Buhari as liberators. It took only few weeks for the late Sage’s house to be ransacked and vandalized by the regime of Buhari in a bid to get incriminating evidence against him. This regime, because of its high handedness was overthrown by the regime of Gen. Ibrahim Babangida in 1985 and was also hailed as a liberator. Gen Ibrahim Babangida, for no reason whatsoever, banned the late Sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo from contesting elections for life. This put final paid to his eternal ambition to govern Nigeria even if it is for twenty four hours and left him with no further motivation to live. He concluded by saying that “the worst civilian government is better than the best military government”. I wish he realised this in the sixties, and encouraged that fledgling democracy to survive. He would have had the opportunity to contest elections for more than 7 times and who knows, maybe he would have won.

2015 is unique in various ways. This is the first time the Nation is having two strong parties that evolved on their own, contesting elections. What a great democratic achievement! This is the first time Nigeria will be conducting elections while the federation is at war. What a great democratic challenge! Hence my plea to my countrymen to accept the results of the elections as declared by INEC without violence and use lawful means to seek redress in the case of any perceived injustice.

I will make the plea to the different major segments of the society-

– TO THE POLITICIANS

Politicians are the major gladiators in a democracy. They make policies, offer themselves to be voted for, occupy the seat of power and determine the destinies of the Nation and the individual citizens. Their actions or inactions determine the success or failure of democracy.

In Advanced countries, politicians are known to make sacrifices before, during and after elections for the survival and prestige of their nations. During the American Presidential elections of year 2000, Governor George Bush and Vice president Al Gore were the Presidential candidates of the Republican Party, Democratic Party respectively. After the elections, Al Gore won the popular vote while George Bush won the Electoral College vote. Constitutionally, whoever wins the Electoral College votes becomes the President. To make matters worse, the Florida state elections which became the deciding factor was believed to be manipulated in favour of George Bush by his brother Governor Jeb Bush of Florida. It took America fifty days, instead of one day to resolve this crisis. There were court cases that reached the American Supreme Court. America became a laughing stock in the comity of nations. After the judgment of the American Supreme Court, Al Gore though he disagreed with the judgment, accepted it and conceded victory to George Bush and saved America the shame and ridicule.

In Nigeria, the case is different. Most Politicians are impatient, callous, destructive and selfish. It is either they win or the process be truncated. They engage in politics of do or die. In our recent history MKO Abiola of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) won the Presidential election in 1993. The National Republican Convention (NRC) engaged in a fierce campaign to annul the election. Their Presidential candidate, Alhaji Tofa refused to concede victory. Eventually, General Ibrahim Babangida, the then Head of state, annulled the election. The annulment brought a lot of chaos in the country that swept IBB aside and eventually led to the emergence of General Sani Abacha as Head of state. General Sani Abacha killed some of the Politicians, jailed some of them and forced some into an unwilling self exile. The call by politicians for the truncation of democracy after they lose is always self destroying. They always erroneously think that any intervening force will remove their opponents and replace their opponents with them, only to find out belatedly that the intervening force takes over power to fulfil its own agenda.

We are now on the threshold of general election 2015. For all intents and purposes there are circumstances which already exist that can form the basis of controversy after the results of the elections are announced. The insurgency in the three North East states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa and the inadequacy of the permanent voter’s card are just some of them. The only thing remaining is whether we can find enough political statesmen who can disagree with the results but accept them for the general good of the nation

My plea, therefore, to Politicians is that they should eschew the call for violence, mass action, bathing dogs and baboons with blood, forming a parallel government, making the country ungovernable just because the results did not favour them. In this regard, the peace accord signed by all the parties where they pledged not to be violent after elections is welcomed. I pray they see it through

-TO THE YOUTHS

The youths constitute the bulk of the workforce of the nation. They are the energy, beauty and pride of any nation. The health and power of the youth today determine the future of the Nation.

In Nigeria, the decisions of the leaders affect the youths positively or negatively and invariably the future of the nation. The bulk of the insurgents today, whether Boko Haram or Niger Delta militants are all composed of youths and they arose as a result of the actions or inactions of the leaders in power.

My plea to the youths is to imbibe this admonition by the President of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Jonathan which states that “no politician’s ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian”. As a politician myself, I can tell you that majority of politicians are selfish. They will pay you to be a thug but pay their children’s school fees to study abroad. They will pay you to die for them but will pay for the best hotels abroad to keep their children if war breaks out. In this coming 2015 elections, they have recruited majority of the youths to roast, kill, destroy, bath the dogs and baboons with blood and make the country ungovernable if some of them lose the election. My question is, during the electoral violence of 2011, which category of people were killed-youths. While you die to fertilize their ambition, they nurture their own children to succeed them in their various offices. Please when they call you again to cause trouble after elections, refuse or ask that their own children should lead the uprising.

-TO THE MILITARY

The military reflects the strength and dignity of the nation. No Nation can attain a super power status without a strong, loyal and courageous military. The US became a super power today because of the steadfast dedication of its military to the protection of its democracy and wading off external aggression. Also, USSR, China, Britain, France are nations whose military assisted their rise to international prominence.

In Nigeria, our military has been known to be the most powerful force in Africa from independence. The numerous military incursions into politics weakened this great institution to the extent that during Abacha’s regime, officers were framed up or set up for treasonable offences and condemned to death. Mutual suspicion among soldiers was so high that barrack life collapsed amongst them.

By 1999, President Olusegun Obasanjo retired all military officers who had held political offices before that date. This further led to the depletion of the finest of officers among the soldiers.

My plea to the military today is that they should stay away from politics. This will enable them focus their attention on their constitutional duty of protecting the territorial integrity of the nation. I have no doubt in my mind that the military is always lured into incursion in politics by politicians who lost elections or fell out with the system. But they should resist this satanic lure as this would lead to destroying itself eventually

The 2015 elections will present peculiar challenges to the military since they are engaging the Boko Haram insurgents and may also be called in to secure the elections. They should not lend themselves as agents of rigging and must ensure that there is no violence after elections. Love of country and its constitution should be their priority rather than blind loyalty to any candidate.

-TO THE CLERGY

The clergy constitutes the Pastors, Priests, Prophets, Imams and all the classes of men that can be classified as servants of God by whatever name its religion is called.

The essential duty of the clergy in governance was summarised by Apostle Paul in his admonition to men of God. He said “I exhort therefore, that first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty”. (1 Timothy 2:1-2). I want to believe that other religion have similar provisions in their sacred books.

In Nigeria, unfortunately, our men of God have become more political than the politicians. It has become a regular feature to see our Priests, Prophets, Pastors, Imams use their pulpits to propagate the agenda of hate against candidates and parties. They make dubious prophecies which create the basis for violence when such prophecies fail to come to pass.

I remember when one “man of God” prophesied that Obasanjo will die before assuming office in 1999. The fear created by that prophecy led to a riot in Oshodi which led to the death of some people and prompted Obasanjo to make that famous statement “I dey kampe” He went on to govern for 8 years.

I believe that the rise in Islamic fundamentalism leading to an unprecedented violence against fellow Muslims and other innocent people has its roots in hate sermons of some Imams and their persistent message of intolerance to other beliefs

My plea to them is to stand fast in the calling wherein they are called. Even if the politicians are bad and the people sin, it is their duty to plead with God to show mercy, forgive the people and heal their land (2 chronicles7:14)

CONCLUSION

It may be by divine providence that our 2015 elections is slated to commence on February 14th, 2015. A day set aside by the whole world to celebrate love. Saint Valentine was said to have made a supreme sacrifice for love. We can do the same in Nigeria. Love covers multitude of sins. We must use the power of love to overcome the power of violence and destruction after our elections.

As I pointed out earlier, we have numerous challenges today that can naturally question the validity of the elections but we are praying to have politicians who are willing to disagree with the results but accept them for the general good. They must remember the admonition of Winston Churchill that “the statesmen lose control immediately the guns begin to fire.”

I make this plea in the name of democracy

Kenneth
